Duty to accommodate — request letter
The duty to accommodate is a legal duty, not a favour. It is a process: the person identifies the need (you do not have to disclose a diagnosis if a functional description will do); the housing provider takes part in good faith; the standard is undue hardship, which is a high bar (cost, outside sources of funding, health and safety). Supports are chosen. Housing is not delayed until someone is “ready.”
