A bed tonight. A lease as fast as the system can be made to move.
Emergency shelter is a bridge, not a character test. Housing First starts with a home. Treatment, sobriety, and program compliance are not preconditions for the right to be housed.

Say the household composition out loud. “Two adults and two children” changes the bed you are offered. If a worker tries to split a safe family, name family-status discrimination and ask for a supervisor.
Housing First, operationally
- Immediate access to housing without readiness conditions
- Choice and self-determination about neighbourhood and supports
- Recovery orientation and harm reduction — not abstinence gates
- Individualized, time-unlimited supports
- Social and community integration
Service managers under the Housing Services Act run homelessness programs, RGI, and often the Special Priority Policy for people fleeing abuse. Ask for the access point by name. “I am requesting housing with the service manager and I want the policy in writing.”
