Tribunals
Use the Board that actually has the remedy you need.
The Landlord and Tenant Board decides most residential tenancy disputes. The Human Rights Tribunal decides Code discrimination. Many households should file, or at least get advice on, both.
Tenant applications people actually use
- T2 — tenant rights: illegal entry, lock changes, vital-service interference, harassment, substantial interference
- T6 — maintenance
- T1 — money a landlord collected that should be returned (illegal deposits, interest)
- C1 / other — confirm current forms on the LTB site; they are revised
File through the Tribunals Ontario portal when you can. Fee waivers exist for low income. Keep a complete PDF of everything you upload.
Hearings
Most LTB hearings are virtual. You can ask for an accommodation: interpreter, extra time, a support person, a phone hearing, or a disability-related pause. Missing the hearing is how people lose units they could have kept.
