Disability includes mental health
A crisis is a reason to accommodate, not a reason to discard the lease.
Mental-health disabilities and many addictions are disabilities under the Code. Landlords must consider accommodation before treating a health crisis as simple misconduct or N7 “safety” grounds.
- Ask for accommodation in writing as soon as a health issue affects rent timing, neighbours, or upkeep.

- Bring a short letter from a worker or clinician to the LTB if health is part of the defence — not your full file.
- Housing First rejects sobriety gates. Program rules that evict at first relapse should be checked against the Code.
