A lock that you cannot open is not security. It is exclusion.
Landlords must maintain locks and common-area safety. They cannot change locks to lock you out. Harassment by a landlord or agent is both an RTA problem and, where a Code ground is engaged, a human-rights problem.
If you are fleeing violence, you may end a tenancy with a shorter notice using the prescribed process and supporting documents. Ask a VAW worker or clinic before you serve it. Assaulted Women’s Helpline: 1-866-863-0511.
Document every threat. Illegal entry plus gender, race, or disability harassment is a T2 and an HRTO file.
