Income supports that keep people housed

OW, ODSP, housing benefits, and federal income security are housing tools.

• Ontario Works — including emergency assistance in a crisis.
• ODSP — disability support; discretionary benefits; start-up.
• Community Start-Up and Maintenance Benefit (or the local housing stability fund) — arrears, last month, moving, bed bugs, fire.
• Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit and municipal housing allowances.
• Canada Child Benefit, GST/HST credit, CCB, EI, CPP, OAS/GIS, CDB, RDSP, CDCP — see the benefits planner.

Internal reviews and appeals have short deadlines. Income Security Advocacy Centre (ISAC) and your clinic are the specialists. Receipt of public assistance is a Code ground in housing.
