Landlord and Tenant Board

The LTB is the forum for most residential tenancy disputes in Ontario.

File many applications (L1, L2, T1, T2, T5, T6 and others) on the Tribunals Ontario Portal. Fees change — confirm before you pay. Fee waivers exist for some low-income tenants. Tenant Duty Counsel (ACTO) may be available on hearing days.

Tenant applications you will actually use

• T1 — money the landlord owes you.
• T2 — tenant rights (harassment, illegal entry, withheld services, interference).
• T5 — landlord gave notice in bad faith (often after an N12).
• T6 — maintenance.

Landlord applications you will have to answer

• L1 — unpaid rent and eviction.
• L2 — other termination notices (N5–N13 and others).

Practice notes

• Upload evidence early. Label it.
• Ask for accommodation (interpreter, extra time, support person, phone instead of video).
• Relief from eviction is a real remedy. Ask for it.
• A request to review is not a full appeal. Deadlines are short. See the review pathway.
