National Housing Strategy Act — the right to housing
Canada recognizes housing as a fundamental human right. The Federal Housing Advocate exists to name the gaps.
The National Housing Strategy Act recognizes that the right to adequate housing is a fundamental human right affirmed in international law. It does not, by itself, give you a key tonight — but it is the national policy frame: housing is not gold; housing is not an asset class first; housing is a right.

Use this language in advocacy to service managers, councils, and funders. Pair it with the Code, the RTA, and the HSA when the problem is a specific landlord or a specific wait list.
